This is a temporary place for me to post my experiences as I participate in the Mongol Rally. I realize it’s not the most attractive site on the web, but I’ll have more time to polish everything up once I return in early September.
For anyone who doesn’t know, the Mongol Rally is a 10 000 mile drive from London to Ulan Bator, over some of the most unforgiving terrain in the world, covering 1/3 of the surface of the planet, across 1 1/2 continents, through 17 countries, with no outside support in a 1.3L hatchback, all in the name of charity. Our team, the Arkansas Chuggabugs (from Hanna-Barbera’s Wacky Races), is supporting the Lotus Children, a center offering basic education and housing for abandoned and orphaned children in Ulan Bator, and Heifer International, proudly operating out of Arkansas under the philosophy that it’s “better to teach a man to fish” by providing livestock as a means for impoverished families to support themselves. Oh, and did I mention that we’ll be giving away our car to be auctioned off in Ulan Bator (the proceeds going to the Lotus Children)?
To all of our supporters, we cannot thank you enough; we can only hope to make you proud.
